Whoever invented these is a genius

All of the 12 Things sound engaging - my late start on this project is no indication of my interest level. But I'm probably most excited about RSS feeds, since I need some way to manage my news intake and am likely to appreciate all of my news sources more when they're not constantly distracting me by landing in my inbox at random moments. Eventually I'll catch up to where everyone else is this week - maybe even this week!

Monique and the Mango Rains

I'm excited to say that my book club has chosen its (possibly first ever) book about Mali for our October meeting. I immediately went to the PS library and got Monique and the Mango Rains, only to discover that it was donated by none other than our senior San Antonio correspondent, Julia de la Torre. Thanks, Julia!

I'm all of 37 pages in and so far am having all of the predictable reactions of being shocked, appalled, and worried about the life of a midwife in rural Mali (as written by a Peace Corps volunteer). Has anyone else read the book? I'd love to discuss it with you.
